Social media often follows a cyclical pattern in which trends come and go at fast rates. It is important for your business account to be up to date with these trends to garner the most traction and get the best results. Utilizing social media trends is an amazing way to grow your account and expose your business to new audiences. It is also key to stay up to date with which platforms are the best for growing your following. At MDMC, we find it important to have ourselves and clients on all different types of platforms from Pinterest and LinkedIn to Facebook and Instagram. It is best to have your account present on all forms of social media, but also be tuned into the different trends that can occur on different platforms.
Spotting trends can be done in multiple ways: here is an example using Instagram. In 2019 Instagram launched its newest feature called Reels. Reels have taken off in the past few years and are a great way to follow trends and spot them. Start by simply scrolling through your personalized reels page and gauge sounds that are doing well, as well as different trends. Once you find an audio that works for your business and fits your social media style you can then create your unique post. You can save the sound and upload your video to your page with Reels. The algorithm will boost your post if it uses a trending sound and will allow you to reach a wider audience of people who do not follow you or even know about your business.
TikTok is another amazing platform to find new trends for your business. Since trends are ever-changing it is important that you jump on a trend or audio quickly, so you are not left behind. Usually, trends first develop on TikTok and then spread to other platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, so using Tik Tok as your point of reference can put you ahead of the curve. Find Tik Tok trends by scrolling your For You Page or searching the trending page for hashtags. The final thing to look out for to stay up to date with social media marketing is new platforms to join for your business. The newest trending social media site is BeReal. BeReal is a new platform in which users are prompted to post at a certain time of day and they can share their posts to a global page or friends only. If you are a business or brand take pictures of your product in use, or show some of your services and share them to the global page to show people who you are and want you are all about. This app will be able to bring in more exposure.
Overall trends are everchanging and cyclical so it is important for your business to have a strong team of people keeping up with those trends and be able to integrate these trends into your social media marketing strategy. Using social media and utilizing trends is the perfect way to bring your business to new heights, increase exposure, and… grow!
